Gaiben.com(tm): In Japan, a foreign lawyer licensed under the Special Measures Law of 1986 to practice law is a Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi. “Gaiben” is a nickname. I was licensed in Japan in 1992, the first Gaiben in Western Japan, and I have used Gaiben.com(tm) as a brand since early 1997, when as best I could determine, this became the first law firm website in Japan.
