Joint Ventures
AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Over 25 joint ventures, mainly between big companies in different countries, in many industries that include consumer products, electronics, software, technology, chemicals, consumer finance, insurance and service businesses. Several involved JVs between Japanese and American companies.
REPRESENTATIVE TRANSACTIONS
Structured and negotiated a worldwide joint venture between Monsanto and General Electric Company Ltd. (U.K) involving more than 40 corporations. I hired and managed the work of over 80 lawyers on this project under severe time pressures to establish a single worldwide business and to resolve long-standing licensing and marketing conflicts.
Implemented a strategy for Gillette to build several extraordinarily profitable manufacturing joint ventures in countries otherwise closed to imports, many of which were in Asia. Negotiated with government ministries, located prospective partners, made public and private share offerings.
Handled law work for one of the most successful, longest U.S.-Japan manufacturing joint ventures in history.
